Green Frog & Moon Grass -- a story
One day two zen monks, Green Frog and Moon Grass were traveling together down a muddy road. Suddenly there was a strong wind and a heavy rain started pouring. The rain stopped just as abruptly as it started.
The two then resumed their journey.
Rounding the bend they saw a lovely lady dressed in a beautiful long robe, staring at a puddle of rain water, unable to cross it. Green Frog, the older of the two, went over and offered to carry the lovely lady across. "Come on, girl. Let me carry you across." Lifting her in his arms, they crossed the puddle.
Leaving her, the two monks continued in silence. When they reached the lodging temple, Moon Grass could not restrain himself any more. He lashed out at Green Frog saying: "We monks do not go near women, especially young and beautiful ones. It is dangerous. Why did you do it?"
"I left the girl there," said GreenFrog, "Are you still carrying her?"
